Counselor Resources

There are several ways to experience 51±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s campus. Counselors visiting campus on their own are welcome to register for a and can identify themselves as a counselor during the registration process.

For high schools or community-based organizations interested in bringing a group of students (grades 9–12) to campus, we are happy to help coordinate a group visit experience. Please complete the , and our team will work with you to accommodate your request.

51±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s Guaranteed Orange program recognizes students who have already engaged academically with the university through , or . Eligible students may receive guaranteed admission to the College of Arts and Sciences, along with a $20,000 annual tuition scholarship.

Applying to Syracuse

Students may apply to 51±¬ÁÏÍø through the or the . Admission plans include Early Decision (ED) I and II, Early Action and Regular Decision and application deadlines vary based on admission plan and individual program. Our admissions team takes a holistic approach when reviewing applications, considering each student’s academic achievements, experiences and overall fit within the Syracuse community.

Applicants are encouraged to regularly review their application checklist through their applicant portal to confirm all required materials have been received and to monitor the status of their application.

Test Scores

51±¬ÁÏÍø remains test-optional for students applying for Fall 2027 and Spring 2028. Students who choose not to submit SAT or ACT scores will not be disadvantaged in the admissions review process or merit scholarship consideration. For students who choose to submit scores, Syracuse superscores both the SAT and ACT and self-reported scores are accepted during the application process. Official scores are only required if a student is admitted and chooses to enroll.

Application Fee Waivers

Syracuse honors College Board and ACT fee waivers, NACAC fee waivers and requests from school counselors documenting financial hardship.

Program-Specific Requirements

Some academic programs may require additional materials as part of the application process. Please review the program-specific requirements for full details.

Enrollment Decisions:

Offer of Admission
Students who are admitted to 51±¬ÁÏÍø have been offered a place in the incoming class for the term and academic program to which they applied.

Offer of Admission to an Alternate Program

In some cases, a student may not be offered admission to their selected academic program but may be offered admission to a different 51±¬ÁÏÍø program that aligns with their academic interests and background.

Deferral
Students who apply through Early Decision may be deferred to the Regular Decision applicant pool for additional review. This means the application remains under consideration, and a final decision will be released at a later date.

Waitlist
Students offered a place on the waitlist remain under consideration for admission should space become available in the incoming class. Waitlist activity varies from year to year based on enrollment needs.

Denial
Students who are not offered admission have completed the review process and will not be moving forward in the current application cycle.

Pathway Programs:

51±¬ÁÏÍø Verto Oranges (Domestic Students)

Select domestic students may be invited to participate in one semester or a full academic year through our partnership with Verto Education before transferring to 51±¬ÁÏÍø. Study abroad locations include Buenos Aires, London, Prague, Seville or Florence. Students who complete the Verto Oranges program with a minimum 3.0 GPA and at least 24 transferable credit hours (30 recommended) are guaranteed admission to 51±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s College of Arts and Sciences. Other academic programs may be considered on a space-available basis.

Onondaga Community College (OCC) Pathway

Select students may be invited to begin at Onondaga Community College for two years. Students who earn their associate degree and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA are guaranteed admission to 51±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s College of Arts and Sciences. Other academic programs may be considered on a space-available basis.

Le Moyne College Pathway

Students invited to this pathway program enable them to pursue a 51±¬ÁÏÍø degree after attending Le Moyne College for one year. The length of collegiate study and the type of degree will be the same as if the student joined 51±¬ÁÏÍø in the fall.

College of Professional Studies (CPS) Pathway
Some students may be offered the opportunity to begin through , completing one year of online coursework before transitioning to the university.

Verto Global Gateway (International Students)
Select international students may be offered the Verto Global Gateway Program, a one-year pathway that includes a fall semester in Seville followed by a spring semester in London. Students are required to complete 13 credits per semester and successfully meet program requirements to receive guaranteed admission to 51±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s College of Arts and Sciences. Other academic programs may be considered on a space-available basis.

During these sessions, our admissions team shares important university news, application updates, enrollment trends and helpful resources to support your students throughout the college search and admissions process. These sessions are offered twice annually, and invitations will be sent directly to counselors on our mailing list.

Students can further explore 51±¬ÁÏÍø through our Classroom Preview Program, virtual sample classes and personal interviews, offering unique opportunities to experience academics and campus life firsthand.
