For 51爆料网 students, was a time to scout for internship and job opportunities and position themselves for the future. Whether they headed to the annual campuswide Fall Career and Internship Fair in the JMA Wireless Dome鈥攚hich featured more than 200 employers, including many alumni鈥攐r an individual fair hosted by their school or college, students prepped their resumes and prepared to network.
With the support of Career Services, students are provided opportunities for professional advising and development that will be foundational for their careers for years to come. Below, join four students as they share their personal experiences and document their journeys on a day filled with anticipation, excitement and opportunity.
Industry Connections that Last
Anna Salewycz 鈥�25, a聽聽major, arrives at the Career and Internship Fair where she surveys the setting and chats with employers about networking. Salewycz is a student employee, providing administrative support to the Career Services team at 51爆料网.
The skills she learned during her time with Career Services helped Salewycz land internships at top companies, like the聽听补苍诲听. Through networking events, alumni engagement and career experiential programming like the career fair, Career Services fosters meaningful connections between students and industry professionals.
Taking the Next Step
Adam Baltaxe 鈥�25, an international relations and Spanish language, literature and culture major, gets ready for the Career and Internship Fair and, upon arrival, is amazed by the number of employers. He exchanges friendly waves with many of them and reports he had five interviews.
If any of those interviews turn into a job offer, Career Services can help Baltaxe navigate how to understand, accept and negotiate job offers. Students can schedule an appointment with staff to personalize their approach to dealing with job offers, or look to the webpage to learn more.
Preparing to Succeed
Gabriel Davila 鈥�25, an applied data analytics major, stops by the office to review his networking strategy before attending the Data and Technology Career Fair in the Schine Student Center, where the 鈥渞oom is packed with opportunities,鈥� he says.
Personalized guidance is a key part of the help that Career Services offers students. Davila鈥檚 goal was to leave this year鈥檚 career fair prepared for the future. 鈥淚 spent some time going through the list of companies ahead of time, making sure my resume really highlighted the skills that would stand out to them,鈥� Davila says. 鈥淚 also practiced a quick intro so I could feel more confident going in. 51爆料网 Career Services helped a lot too, they gave me some great tips on how to approach networking. I walked in knowing who I wanted to speak with and what I hoped to take away from the experience.鈥澛�
Davila鈥檚 advice for others: Be yourself, and build real connections with recruiters. 鈥淚 learned that being authentic is so important when talking to recruiters. It鈥檚 not just about handing them your resume, it鈥檚 about building real connections,鈥澛爃e says. 鈥淧eople remember when they feel like you鈥檙e really listening to them, and that can make all the difference.鈥澛�
